In the discharge of his public duties, he fully justified, by his ability and punctuality, the great confidence placed in him. Equally considerate and humane, he was still more mindful of the duties than of the rights of a proprietor. In domestic and private life, affectionate, religious, sincere, kind to all. Throughout his too short course, esteemed, respected, beloved. Born 3rd January 1784, he died 1st March 1843, leaving to his family and friends, as their best consolation, the memory of his virtues.'
